Risks and chances

Last night I went on yet another date. It's kind of a funny story, how we met. My friend, who shall remain anonymous, had a so-called "brilliant" idea. Dating sites. Enough said. Anyways. I wasn't extremely happy about the whole ordeal, and I will be deleting that account she generously set up for me. Somehow I had a good dozen or more messages. In one day. Curiosity got the best of me and I decided to check them out for a few laughs. One was surprisingly attractive. He simply messaged me something along the lines of, "Hi. How are you?" I thought, "what the heck" and gave him my e-mail address.

We e-mailed for a bit, then he told me he didn't check his e-mail all too often and I should text him. I hesitated, but gave him my number. (I did a background check, folks. All is clear.) And we texted. Out of no where, remember: this is the first day of communicating, he asked if I would like to get together. Now, I watch a lot of Law and Order, 20/20, Lifetime, and Dateline. So, I went, "are you going to kill me?" And then proceeded to tell him about how I watch all of the previous stated. He told me silly things such as he might, etc. I figured if he joked about killing me, he probably isn't a murderer. Good logic? Probably not. I agreed to meeting him - in public, of course.

He met me in the mall parking lot. I was nervous, and I thought, "wow. He's cute." when I saw him. He got out of his car, and we said hey. He got in mine, and I drove us to a yummy little Mexican restaurant down town. Usually I get a macho burrito, but seeing as I was nervous, I got a junior burrito. I still only ate half of it. There really weren't any awkward silences over dinner, which was nice. A few moments it got quiet. Pretty sure I blushed at several times during those moments. Turns out we both enjoy the outdoors, working out, sports, food, and movies. As he finished up his plate he asked if I wanted to get ice cream or something. I agreed. We each got a milkshake. I asked if he wanted to go for a walk or something. He agreed.

So, we walked. And we talked. And we got to know each other. He's in the military. He goes to Afghanistan in November. I enjoyed chatting with him. We had a few good laughs as well. We said our good-byes. It ended with a quick hug. And, later, he texted me that we should meet up again sometime. He said he had fun. I agreed.

I am glad I gave it a shot. I can't say I'll ever sign up for a dating site on my own free will and I will be deleting the one that someone so generously encouraged, but hey. I'm kind of glad it happened the way it did. I'm not sure if me and him will actually ever go on a second date again. But either way, it was fun. And I met someone new. We'll see.

On another note, yesterday morning me, Melanie, and Andrew went for a bike ride. Afterwards, we chowed down on A&W. This week at work I have a short week - I work Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday! That's it! I took off because I have finals all week. Less stress. But then the following week it's back to Monday-Friday. At least it'll be Memorial Day weekend, meaning Saturday-Monday off! Three day weekend, sweet! Me and Stephanie are going to the Brewer game on Friday night, and I'm thinking I'll take my Little (from Big Brothers Big Sisters) to the game on Sunday, since she's never been to a game before.

Well, I think I'm going to sign off now. This is an extremely long post.
